revisiting iceland
Before we ever even touched down in Iceland, water was diverting and reshaping our route. A glacial outburst washed out a bridge along the main stretch of road just before our arrival. From there, our altered path took us to oceans, fjörds, waterfalls, crossing unbridged rivers in our 4x4, through torrential sheets of rain and impenetrable clouds, misty belching fumaroles, hot springs, fog, snow, ice, lagoons, and glaciers. Everywhere the water surrounded us, constantly reminding us of its power and presence.
